Karma Samtani is a writer, researcher and designer focused on the intersections between electoral politics, social movements, and popular culture. His work has been featured in a number of publications, including Teen Vogue, Jacobin, In These Times and The Progressive. Through his work, Karma has interviewed numerous candidates for office, a Grammy-winning musician, and countless workers and organizers. His writing has received recognized by figures and organizations including Zohran Mamdani, DSA National, and Matt Yglesias’ Slow Boring.

Additionally, Karma is an experienced graphic designer and social media manager, spearheading efforts by nonprofits, campaigns and unions to mobilize a wide variety of audiences. His work in communications and research includes work as a digital intern at the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) and a research apprentice at UNITE-HERE.

Karma is entering his senior year at Bowdoin College, where is double-majoring in Sociology and Environmental Studies. At Bowdoin, he leads student organizing efforts through the Bowdoin Labor Alliance, and writes and edits for the Bowdoin Orient and hosts a radio show on WBOR 91.1FM. In recognition of his work in student journalism and campus organizing, he was the 2026 recipient of Bowdoin’s Award for Distinguished Public Sociology
